Four Post Systems

Select image to enlarge The IST RoadLab four post rig is a versatile test system that provides a reliable, cost effective solution for road simulation. Four vertical actuators apply displacements to the bottom of a tire reproducing the surface of the road.

Durability Testing

A four post system (RoadLab) is the best system for testing full vehicle durability quickly and inexpensively. Durability testing of a vehicle chassis can be tested in around 25% of the time taken to carry out equivalent durability tests on the proving ground.

Squeak and Rattle Evaluation

The RoadLab four post system is used to excite squeaks and rattles in a vehicle using controlled cyclic inputs or real road data known to cause squeaks and rattles to develop. Specialized systems can be integrated into the assembly line to carry out both the squeak and rattle audit and settle the suspension prior to final alignment of the steering and headlights.

Noise Vibration and Harshness Testing (NVH)

With NVH tests, the RoadLab four post system is used to apply inputs of known loads and frequencies to the tire patch to measure the vehicle response. In this way, the performance of the suspension system can be characterized and ride and noise transmissibility properties qualified. Studies can take place on the effects of changing spring stiffness, damper characteristics and isolation bushings.
