IST is a world class partner to providing solutions for the physical testing of structures and components including applications consultancy, design and manufacture of systems and equipment.

Instron Structural Testing Systems (IST), founded in 1996 as a joint venture between the Structural Testing businesses of two companies Schenck AG and Instron. The depth of applications experience, products and individual strengths of each company were forged into a new operation building on these unique strengths. Since September 1998, IST has been a 100% owned division of Instron in Norwood, Massachusetts, USA. IST is a dedicated solutions provider for the physical testing of structures and components.

In order to serve the major customers in the automotive industry IST has positioned its operations close to these customers. There are manufacturing, engineering and system integration sites in Darmstadt, Germany and High Wycombe, England. In Detroit, Michigan, IST has a dedicated sales, service and applications engineering group.

In other countries around the world, IST has a trained local sales, service and applications engineering presence operating within the Instron organization.
