THE DURABILITY ALLIANCE
ACCELERATING THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
|
The Durability Alliance Partners
Instron Structural Testing Systems (IST)
IST is one of the leading suppliers of
hydraulic testing systems worldwide. For more than 100 years,
IST has been developing testing systems for the automotive and ground transportation industry.
Innovative developments in the areas of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, measuring
systems, computer systems and application software are integrated into powerful, customer-focused
testing systems.
Due to the modular design of our test rigs, individual components can be tailored exactly to the
specific requirements of an application. IST's areas of operations encompass the testing of
prototype components and vehicles in the research and development process as well as quality tests
on the end product in the manufacturing process. This enables us to provide a cost-efficient
solution, which optimizes cycle times, minimizes manufacturing costs and increases efficiency and
quality.
With IST's extensive experience in the production of a variety of different testing systems,
you can be sure that you will receive a testing system that has been deployed successfully
all over the world-meaning your investment is protected well into the future.

Kistler Instrumente AG
Measuring Technology from Kistler for Research and Production.
With 12 subsidiaries in Europe and more than 30 distributors in Asia and the USA, Kistler Instrumente AG
is one of the world's leading measuring technology companies. Kistler AG sensors are able to
measure pressure, force, and acceleration accurately within a broad measuring range and in extreme
environmental conditions. The measuring signals captured can then be processed and analyzed with
suitable electronic instruments and software produced by Kistler AG. This measuring data provides
important information for successful research and for the production of higher-performance products,
for example; in engine development and in vehicle technology or biomechanics. In industrial mass
production, Kistler AG's measuring technology monitors, controls and documents production processes.
The proportion of scrap is consequently reduced, thereby increasing production quality and economic
efficiency.
At Kistler AG, fifteen percent of the 600 employees work in Research and Development, which explains why Kistler AG
is constantly producing revolutionary world firsts and owns more than 100 patents. The name
Kistler Instrumente AG has become synonymous with innovative technology, thorough knowledge of processes, and an
extensive tailor-made consultancy service.

LMS International
LMS enables customers to engineer functional performance
targets into their products, creating and maintaining distinctive brand values. LMS' unmatched understanding of
the product development process is captured through a unique combination of products and services supporting
physical and virtual product development: test systems, CAE software products and engineering services.
Critical attributes such as noise and vibration, ride, handling, motion, acoustics and fatigue are turned from
problems to competitive advantage. LMS, a Dassault Systems Gold Partner, is a global company with the vision,
resources and commitment to significantly impact product development performance of its customers.
Accelerating the test-based durability process
Automotive manufacturers have made major investments in terms of facilities, engineering prototypes and,
above all, time, to ensure that a product meets a desirable target for durability. Most use vehicle proving
grounds to validate their designs, and it has become commonplace to use multiaxis hydraulic actuators in the
laboratory to simulate practically any road condition. Yet problems are still being discovered too late in
the development process. How representative is the testing strategy? Can virtual prototyping technology be
applied to a process that is today mostly test based? LMS provides unique tools that integrate and accelerate
the ‘traditional’ test process. We've introduced with LMS TecWare advanced load data analysis
and statistics methodologies that allow a more systematic and flexible customer correlation. Innovative technology in
LMS/IST RS Time Waveform Replication allows accelerated service load simulation on multiaxis test rigs.
Component and system-level fatigue simulation
Traditional test-based durability processes are stretched to the limit. Evaluating durability performance on
a virtual prototype, before signing it off with a physical test, is the only valid alternative. LMS has a
yearlong presence in durability CAE and embedded its advanced experience in one single environment, capable of
assessing large flexible welded bodies and complex suspensions. LMS Virtual.Lab Durability reliably predicts the
fatigue life of components and accurately identifies their critical locations, enabling you to implement design
changes during the design phase. The tight integration with Finite Element (FE) and MultiBody Simulations (MBS)
leverages LMS Virtual.Lab Durability to efficiently take material flexibility and other real-life circumstances
into account.
