The Challenge
A major manufacturer of window gaskets, O-rings,
body mounts, and various other elastomeric components needed to
advance their knowledge of their compounds and components.
Requirements:
- A test system that could perform a wide range of tests, including
tensile, load/deflection, flex, & cycling on a number of different
specimens & components.
- A system that could also test at various temperatures.
- Software to automate the reporting of results.
The Solution
- A Model 5569 test system with Merlin™ software. The 50 kN (11,250
lbs) force capacity will conduct tests on all of their products.
- Various elastomer grips, fixtures, and compression platens to
handle all of their materials and components.
- A video extensometer for non-contacting strain measurement.
- An integrated environmental chamber for determining temperature
effects.
