The FastTrack™ 8800 Series of high capacity test systems, with fatigue rated
capacities of 2.5MN, feature:
- Precision aligned frames
- High stiffness load frames
- A range of high capacity actuators and grips and fixtures
The precision mechanical systems are complimented by the
FastTrack™ 8800 or 5500 Series
controllers, which offer an expandable architecture capable of being applied to
high capacity test applications.
With a choice of hardware or software-based interfaces such as the Dynamic and Fatigue Materials Testing Software Suite for dynamic testing applications, Instron supplies fully-integrated turnkey solutions
to meet the most demanding applications.
For higher capacity tests, in the range of 2.5 MN to 20 MN, load frames are configured
to suit specific applications, taking into account the testing equipment, the laboratory
space and the load configuration.
Special Configurations
Extra height frames, with a test space of 3 m to 5 m may be installed
in pits, should the need arise, while wire rope testing frames, with 20 m specimen
testing length may be installed horizontally.

Structural test systems are usually custom engineered to meet the
application requirements and to accommodate a wide range of fixtures to suit the
diverse range of components under test.
Machines are available with extended tables and a wide range of vertical and horizontal
daylights. These systems are usually supplied with fixturing including deep bend
fixtures, 3 and 4 point flexure fixtures, compression tables, and a range of extensometry.
For general metals testing, Instron can offer a broad selection
of two and four column standard load frames, ranging in capacity from 100 kN to
2.5 MN. Available with vertical daylights of 1.2 m to 2.5 m, load frames may be
fitted with either labyrinth or hydrostatic bearing actuators.
Testing solutions are offered to suite a range of wire configurations
from strand through to multi-strand. In addition, Instron can provide systems for
performing static and fatigue testing of seven strand concrete reinforcing cable.
A range of specimen extension measurement options are available including actuator
displacement, clip-on extensometers, high resolution automatic and video extensometers.
Instron has a number of configured systems available for forge simulation
and metal forming test applications. Generally, these tests involve
relatively high strain rates and actuator velocities; these are achieved using suitably
sized actuators, control valves and hydraulic accumulation to provide the short
term high levels of flow required.
Typical Applications:
- Structural testing
- General metals
- Wire rope
- Forge simulation
- Concrete and rock mechanics
- Re-inforcing bar testing
- Civil engineering components or structures
- Full size aerospace panels
- Testing/compression
- Fastener fatigue
