MT MicroTorsion Series

The MT Series torsion testing systems are available in six standard models with force capacities ranging up to 5,650 N-m (50,000 lbf-in) and are used for torsion testing and component in-service simulation. The compact design requires minimal lab space and offers superior frame stiffness and alignment. Packaged with Instron high-performance control electronics, the MT Series provides highly accurate test data and control for testing wire, fasteners, metal components, switches, and springs used in the biomedical, automotive, aerospace, and construction industries.

MicroTorsion Test Application

Features and Benefits

  • Dual linear slide design offers high-torsional stiffness and low-axial friction
  • Adjustable crosshead locking system allows crosshead to be free-floating or fixed
  • Torque cells available from 0.225 - 5,650 Nm (2 - 50,000 lbf-in) provide superior accuracy and zeroing capability
  • Comprehensive torsion testing software provides graphical data plots and performs a wide range of calculations on torque and angle data
  • Torque cell protection device prevents damage to low-capacity torque cells during test setup
  • MT1 and MT2: Interlocked enclosure protects the operator from the rotating drive by preventing testing when the guard is open
  • MT5, MT10, MT20, and MT50: Interlocked chuck guard protects the operator from the rotating drive during operation
  • Optional preload assembly provides constant axial force in compression or tension

Application Range

  • Biomedical: bone screws, syringes, needles, Luer locks, fine wire, tools, insulin pens, tubing
  • Automotive / Aerospace: switches, torsion springs, wire rod, components, fasteners, metals, tools
  • Standards: ASTM A938, ASTM E143, ASTM F543 (except Annex A4), ISO 594, ISO 7800, ISO 7864, ISO 7886-1, ISO 6475, CE Compliant
