Curved Needle Testing Systems
The Instron® Needle Testing System is ideally suited for needles used in abdominal, fistula, vascular, intestinal, or other surgical procedures. This system provides two different needle testing solutions: one for curved needle puncture testing and one for bend testing. The curved needle puncture testing fixture is used to evaluate needle sharpness and insertion force, while the needle bend testing fixture is used to evaluate flexural properties of the needle during use. With its tabletop design, the Curved Needle Testing System has a small footprint and takes up minimal benchtop space. The testing system operates with Instron Bluehill® 3 Software that provides test control, data acquisition, test results, and reports, as well as a large library of calculations.

Manual Wedge Action Grips 2716-00x and 2736-00x Series
The manual wedge action grip is designed for easy specimen loading, alignment, and positioning. After initial face to specimen contact, gripping force will increase as the testing load increases. Virtually no preload is seen during specimen clamping due to the design of the moving grip bodies. This makes them particularly suitable for testing high strength materials, such as metals and composites, ensuring that specimen slippage is eliminated.

AVE2 Dynamic Strain Measurement
In addition to its excellent performance for static testing, the Instron AVE 2 is now available with an option for cyclic testing and high speed monotonic test measurement. Capable of tracking displacement at up to 500mm/s with cyclic test frequencies up to 20Hz, it offers the speed and flexibility scientists and engineers have been waiting for to study the dynamic behaviour of materials without contacting the specimen.

V-Notch Shear Fixtures | ASTM D5379 & D7078
Instron® Shear Test Fixtures are designed for in-plane or interlaminar shear testing of composite materials. The V-Notched Beam Method, more commonly known as the Iosipescu Shear Method, is described in ASTM D5379, while the V-Notched Rail Shear Method is outlined in ASTM D7078. Both test methods share many common characteristics and have the distinctive V-notches in the specimen design, which serve to create a localized and approximate uniform shear stress zone between the notches. Also, a ±45° two-element strain gauge is often used to directly verify the shear strains applied.

Does Your Specimen Quality have an Adverse Effect on Your Data Reliability?
The Instron® Hollow Die Punch system is a tool used to create dog bone shaped specimens easily, quickly, and safely. An ideal choice over the “manual” punching of specimens, the system is powered by compressed air and creates a tensile specimen that is free of tool marks, incipient cracks, induced stresses, internal deformation, and heat distortion in or on the specimen.

CEAST HDT Vicat Series HV500
The effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of plastic materials has a fundamental role in the design of components, especially in the selection of materials. Unlike metals and ceramics, plastics are extremely sensitive to the slightest changes in temperature. The selection of plastics for applications under different temperatures is a complex task. The material must be able to support a stress under operating conditions without losing its strength and without critical distortion. The effect of temperature on geometrical stability and mechanical properties in general can be studied following different procedures and methods like at constant temperature or with a temperature ramp. From very simple units for QC labs to more advanced and automated systems, the Instron line of CEAST Thermal testers are designed to measure the heat deflection temperature (HDT) and the Vicat softening temperature (VST) according to the related ISO and ASTM international standards.
