ASTM A370 鉄筋（リバー）の引張試験および曲げ試験
鉄筋バーの試験基準は、ASTM A370、ASTM A615、ASTM A996、BS4449、及びEN 10002-1など多数の規格により定められています。これらの機械試験規格の内容は、お客様ならびに試験機器に対して過酷な要求となる可能性があります。従って、＃14（全鋼種）の大型の鉄筋バーを試験する場合には、インストロンでは、従来のデュアル試験スペース形式に代わって単一試験荷重フレームを使用することを推奨します。この試験に関しては、最大容量が1500 kNの、長さ400 mmから700 mmの範囲の鉄筋バーの試験片に対応する1500 kNモデルを使用しました。
この荷重フレームには、負荷領域が地上レベルにある上部取付け型油圧アクチュエータが備わっています。これにより、重量物の鉄筋バー試験片に負荷をかける際に試験片を昇降させる必要性が大幅に低減しました。さらに、鉄筋バーのサンプルに関しては、引張用グリップに圧縮アダプターを取り付けることにより、引張試験と曲げ試験の双方を行うことができました。大重量の張力グリップを取り外すために天井クレーンを使用する必要がないため、交換時間を節約することができました。圧縮用アダプターと曲げ用の取付け具の取り付けはわずか2、3分で済み、単にネジを2、3本締めるだけの作業でした。
最後にインストロンでは、ひずみを測定するため自動伸び計を用いました。選んだモデルのM300Bは、（大部分の鉄筋バー用途に要求される）10 mmから300 mmまでの調整可能なゲージ長を有しています。このモデルは、試験が始まると鉄筋バー表面のリブを自動的にクランプし、試験中は所定の点ではクランプを緩めます。ひずみデータは、要求される弾性率と降伏の計算に使用することができます。
