The challenge

Pre-Angled dental implants are designed to help dental surgeons make the best use of the existing bone or to remove the need for bone grafting to occur, while providing a secure restorative platform.

The latest revision of the ISO 14801 standard for fatigue testing specifies a method for testing of these pre-angled dental implants in a laboratory situation. The standard requires the implant to be aligned so that the angle of loading is 10° greater than between the implant axis and the axis of the angled portion of the connecting part.

ISO 14801 “Dentistry – Implants – Dynamic fatigue test for endosseous dental implants” specifies the procedure for fatigue testing dental implants. Dental implants are designed by various manufacturers and are of different geometries and sizes depending on where they are placed within the mouth.
