Out of Production 5900 Series Universal Testing Systems
No longer in production, the 5900 Series universal testing systems listed in the table below were replaced by 6800 Series testing systems between 2020 – 2022. The 5940 single column and 5960 dual column models were produced from 2010 – 2020, and the 5980 floor model systems listed were produced between 2010 – 2022. These systems were designed to perform tensile, compression, flexure/bend, peel, tear, shear, and cyclic tests.
- Load measurement accuracy: +/- 0.5% of reading down to 1/1000 of load cell capacity option (2580 Series load cells)
- Up to 2.5 kHz data acquisition rate option simultaneous on load, extension, and strain channels
- Speed range of 0.001 - 3000 mm/min (0.00004 -120 in/min), depending on the model
- Customizable control panel
- Automatic gain adjustment (allows closed loop strain control)
- Compatible with Bluehill® Software / Instron® Remote Technical Support (RTS)

The 5900 Series frames remain compatible with our extensive selection of accessories, including grips, fixtures, load cells, extensometers, environmental chambers, torsion add-on, automated XY stage, auto-injector testing system, and many other frame accessories. The 5900 controller allows for the addition of digital I/O channels to connect external devices and add up to 11 +/- 10V channels.
