Hydraulic Hose Replacement
Hoses can often be the forgotten part of hydraulic systems,
but their performance and condition can have a critical
impact on not only the system performance, but also on the
health and safety of your facilities and staff.
Most laboratories will have their own periodic inspection
program as part of the site’s health and safety policy. Early
indications of an impending catastrophic hose failure, such
as blistering, fitting weep, and chaffing, will often be detected
then, or as part of Instron’s professional routine system
maintenance. This specialised maintenance will also detect
more subtle failure, such as the erosion of the internal hose
wall, that can have a marked impact on the performance of
the system, especially in such areas as the servo valve.

2716-111 & 2716-121 Wedge Action Grips & Jaw Faces
The Pneumatic Wedge Action Grips, available in 100 or 200 kN, provide a convenient method of clamping both large round and flat specimen shapes, up to a 50 mm (2 in) diameter, or flat specimens up to 40 mm (1.57 in) thick respectively. V-face grips are used for round specimens by design and have a reduced area at the center that compromises their ability to absorb high-energy breaks without fracture. This grip uses a split V-face configuration that allows the break energy to be dissipated without damaging the faces.

Composite Test Fixtures_Compression After Impact, ASTM D 7137 / D 7137M
The “Boeing CAI” fixture is used to test the impact resistance of carbon and other fiber-reinforced polymer composite laminates. These materials are prone to great reduction in compressive strength, even when the impact load is insufficient to cause visible damage. The post-impact compression test is used to assess the relative performance of different composite laminates with different fiber matrix combinations. Laminates are subjected to low-velocity impact loading simulating tool drops and flying debris or may be subjected to an out-of-plane static indentation (ASTM D 6264 / D 6264M). Specimens then undergo a compression after impact (CAI) test on an electromechanical or servohydraulic testing machine.

8800MT Controller Upgrades and Retrofits
The Instron® 8800MT retrofit enables older servohydraulic and dynamic testing systems to be upgraded with the latest control electronics and WaveMatrix™2 software: WaveMatrix2 for fatigue testing or dynamic tests, or Bluehill® 2 for static tests. As many fatigue tester load frames are designed to last and provide many years of reliable testing, the modernization and upgrade of the control system is a cost-effective way to extend the life of your existing installation and test using the latest techniques. 8800MT upgrade packages are available for existing servohydraulic fatigue testing machines including Instron, Schenck, Dartec, MTS, Zwick, Shimadzu, Mayes, and other manufacturers.

Digital Image Correlation Reveals Local Deformation of Specimen and Component Surfaces
Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a technology that makes use of the data provided by an Instron® AVE to detect local strain and displacement on the surface of specimens and components. This information can be visualized in real time, saved, and used in post-processing mode for in-depth analysis.
