ISO 1926 Rigid Cellular Plastics Tensile Properties
ISO 1926 method determines the tensile and deformation properties of rigid cellular materials when extended at a constant rate of displacement until failure. These properties include tensile strength and elongation at break.
The challenges:
- Specimen gripping
- Repeatable strain measurements
- Reporting test results in compliance with the standard
Our solution:
- Specimen gripping – Gripping options include pneumatic side action grips and advanced screw action grips. Pneumatic side action grips provide a constant clamping force to ensure no slippage occurs and ensures repeatable results.
- Repeatable strain measurements – Advanced strain solutions include non-contacting extensometers, such as the Advanced Video Extensometer (AVE2) and automatic contacting extensometers, such as the AutoX750. These solutions require little influence from the operator, resulting in improved repeatability. Contacting long travel extensometers also meet the measurement accuracy requirements of the standard.
- Reporting test results in compliance with the standard – Bluehill® Universal testing software offers advanced methods that are available with pre-configured calculations to ensure compliance with the standard report requirements.
It is important to review ISO 1926 to fully understand the test setup, procedure, and results requirements.

2710-100 Series Screw Side-Action Grips
Screw side-action grips provide a very simple and efficient method for holding test specimens in a wide range of applications. The dual - acting design of 2710-100 series grips means that jaw faces can be adjusted to accommodate different specimen thicknesses. This ensures that the line of tensile force remains concentric with the grip body. They can be equipped with a selection of interchangeable grip jaw faces in various sizes and choice of surfaces including smooth ground, rubber-coated and serrated. Line contact and special coated faces are also available. The unique ‘snap-on’ jaw face attachment makes changing faces extremely quick and simple.
