Load cells convert the force experienced by the specimen into an electrical signal used by the electronic controller to precisely monitor, report, and control the applied force. Instron designs and manufactures its own load cells — ensuring accuracy, compatibility, and traceability across the full range of Instron testing systems.

Extensometry provides a direct and accurate method for measuring and controlling specimen deformation by monitoring strain over a precisely defined gauge length. Instron offers contacting and non-contacting extensometers for static, dynamic, and high-temperature applications.

Environmental chambers and furnaces provide the capability to study the mechanical properties of materials and components across a wide temperature range — from sub-zero cryogenic conditions through to +1,600°C — for applications where temperature has a critical influence on material behavior.

A wide range of tensile grip styles and force capacities for holding diverse materials including thread, rope, rubber, plastics, composites, fasteners, sheet metal, and more. Each grip type is engineered for secure, consistent specimen clamping to minimize slippage and ensure accurate results.

Compression platens and anvils in a range of sizes and force capacities — from rigid foam and packaging materials through to concrete cylinders, cubes, and high-strength structural specimens.

Three and four-point bend fixtures for determining the stiffness, yield, and flexural strength of plastics, metals, composites, and similar rigid materials to ASTM, ISO, and EN standards.

Fixtures for performing peel, puncture, burst, and coefficient of friction tests on adhesives, films, foils, packaging, and coated materials to a wide range of industry standards.

The Torsion Add-On 3.0 can be installed on any new or existing 6800 or 5900 Series universal testing system to enable simultaneous axial and torsional testing of components such as bone screws, Luer locks, electrical knobs, and more.

The AT2 can be added to any new or existing 6800 or 5900 Series system to automate compression, tensile, and flexure testing of devices or components with multiple test points or repetitive test locations — widely used in biomedical and electronics testing.

Load frame accessories designed to fit specific Instron testing frames — including support tables, protective debris shields, T-slot tables, in-head wedge grips, in-head tension rods, and more.

Fixtures and accessories for testing medical devices, drug delivery systems, surgical instruments, implants, and pharmaceutical packaging — supporting compliance with ISO, ASTM, and regulatory requirements for biomedical and healthcare applications.

Grips, fixtures, and system add-ons for tension, compression, flexure, peel, shear, and puncture testing of electronic components, PCBs, connectors, and microelectronic devices.

Accessories for testing the mechanical properties of materials, adhesives, welds, and components found in battery cells, modules, and packs — supporting the development and quality control of battery systems for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage applications.

Fixtures for tension, compression, flexure, shear, and peel testing of composite materials — most designed to meet specific ASTM, ISO, and EN composite testing standards.

Couplings and adapters modify the test system's connection type, allowing you to interface with a wider range of grips and fixtures across different clevis, threaded, and flanged connection types.

Fixtures designed for fast and accurate tensile testing of bolts, screws, studs, and nuts — including proof load, wedge tensile, and cone stripping test configurations to ASTM F606 and related standards.

T-slot tables and component test plates for mounting or clamping components, structures, and assemblies for tensile, compression, bend, peel, and puncture testing.

Fixtures covering a wide range of industry-standard food texture testing methods — including compression, puncture, shear, and extrusion tests for evaluating the texture, firmness, and consistency of food products.

Fixtures for testing wood and wood-based products for adhesive bond strength, compression, bend strength, shear, and tensile strength to standard and application-specific test methods.

Accessories for low-speed rear, side, and pole impact simulation — supporting the development and validation of automotive safety systems with improved productivity and testing efficiency.

Fixtures and software for measuring and adjusting load string alignment in real time — essential for applications where testing standards specify alignment requirements, such as Nadcap and ISO 23788.

Solutions for specimen cutting, marking, and dimensional measurement — ensuring correct specimen geometry and consistency for accurate and repeatable test results.
