The effect of temperature on the mechanical properties of plastic materials has a fundamental role in the design of components, especially in the selection of materials. Unlike metals and ceramics, plastics are extremely sensitive to the slightest changes in temperature. The selection of plastics for applications under different temperatures is a complex task. The material must be able to support a stress under operating conditions without losing its strength and without critical distortion. The effect of temperature on geometrical stability and mechanical properties in general can be studied following different procedures and methods like at constant temperature or with a temperature ramp.

Floating Roller Peel Fixtures | 2820-101 and 2820-102

This fixture consists of two roller bearings in a frame that connects to the test system via a pivoting adapter. This design ensures the specimen is brought into alignment as soon as a force is applied and that the applied force goes through the centerline of the fixture. As the crosshead is driven in the tensile direction, the load cell measures the force required to peel the flexible adherend from the rigid adherend. There are two different versions of the fixture. One complies with the ASTM D3167 and the other with ISO 4578, EN 2243-2 and EN 1464 standards. While the standards are very similar there are slight differences in the specified peel area dimensions and the roller bearings diameter. While the differences are small, they may contribute to variation in the test results.

ISO 11040 4 Fixtures for Testing Prefilled Glass Syringes

Pre-filled glass syringes are most commonly tested to ISO 11040-4. As glass syringes are more susceptible to failure than plastic syringes, a wider variety of tests are required to be performed on them. Within ISO 11040-4 there are a total of 10 annexes, each requiring a different mechanical test. All fixtures are compatible with the Torsion Add-On for 5900 systems, as some of the annexes require simple rotation.
