Analyzing performance of Universal Testing Systems using Process Capability Analysis

Analyzing performance of Universal Testing Systems using Process Capability Analysis

Manufacturers/OEMs are constantly striving to develop processes that will produce defect-free products. In this need for zero defect solution, experts strategize different ways to monitor process performances. One such metric is the Process Capability Analysis (PCA). The fundamental concept of PCA requires experts to understand variation of data from the pre-defined tolerance limits for an individual process. As Instron systems typically involve the process of testing and measuring, companies investigate this process’ consistency over multiple samples, over multiple batches and over multiple systems installed at different sites.

2710 Series Screw Side Action Grips

2710 Series Screw Side Action Grips

Screw side‑action grips offer a straightforward and reliable way to secure test specimens across a wide range of applications. The dual‑acting design of the 2710‑100 series allows the jaw faces to adjust easily for different specimen thicknesses, keeping the tensile load path centered within the grip body. These grips support a variety of interchangeable jaw faces in multiple sizes and surface types, including smooth ground, rubber‑coated, serrated, line‑contact, and specialty coated options. A convenient snap‑on attachment system makes swapping jaw faces fast and hassle‑free, adding flexibility for diverse testing needs.

Equivalency Testing of Bluehill 3 and Bluehill Universal – a Statistical Review

Equivalency Testing of Bluehill 3 and Bluehill Universal – a Statistical Review

For medical device companies as part of software validation, GR&R testing is required to prove that new software is capable of producing the same results as the previous software version. Instron conducted a series of tests to prove software equivalence between Bluehill 3 and Bluehill Universal as part of this validation process.

Setting Proportional Gain for Load Control

Setting Proportional Gain for Load Control

When running in load control, shaking or vibration coming from the machines motor can occur. This is due to the proportional gain factor (feedback) being set incorrectly. The proportional gain factor is material specific. Tuning the gain setting will adjust how quickly the Instron frame’s motor reacts to changes in force measured by the load cell.

Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Data Sheet

Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Data Sheet

The study of novel biomaterials and tissue-engineered products remains at the forefront of research around the world.
Hard tissues such as bone, dentin, and enamel; soft tissues such as tendons, ligaments, skin, muscles, and arteries;
and scaffolds such as hydrogels are all examples of tissue engineered materials or biomaterials. These materials require mechanical testing often in an environment to mimic physiological conditions to understand and characterize force and displacement properties. Mechanical testing of biomaterials typically entails a multitude of tests that include: monotonic tension, compression, or flexure tests, simple cyclic tests, creep, stress-relaxation, and dynamic fatigue tests.
