Configure Your 6800 Series Universal Testing System
Build an Instron® 6800 Series frame to match your specimens, standards, and lab space. Select your options in the configurator below to see which configuration fits your application.
How the Configurator Works
- Choose a model: Select a single column table model, a dual column table model, or a dual column floor model.
- Select force capacity: Choose the capacity that covers the highest force your specimens will reach.
- Set the test space: Choose standard or extra height, and standard or extra width where available.
- Choose a base height: For floor models, select a short or tall base to set the working height.
- Review your configuration: Check your selections and send them to our team.
Configuration Options
Model and Force Capacity
The 6800 Series covers forces from 0.5 kN (112 lbf) to 300 kN (67,440 lbf) across three frame types:
- 68SC single column table models: 0.5 kN (112 lbf) to 5 kN (1,124 lbf)
- 68TM dual column table models: 5 kN (1,124 lbf) to 100 kN (22,480 lbf)
- 68FM dual column floor models: 100 kN (22,480 lbf) and 300 kN (67,440 lbf)
Single column models suit lower-force testing on a benchtop. Dual column models provide the stiffness and alignment needed for higher forces and larger specimens.
Test Space Height
Choose standard height (E1) or extra height (E2). On floor models, extra height adds 499 mm (19.6 in) of vertical test space. The extra space accommodates high-elongation materials, long specimens, and fixtures or chambers that take up room in the load string.
Test Space Width
Choose standard width (F1) or extra width (F2) where available. On the 68FM-300, extra width increases the horizontal test space from 575 mm (22.6 in) to 934 mm (36.8 in). Wider test space fits large specimens, components, and wide fixtures.
Base Height
Floor models are available with a short base (B1) of approximately 500 mm (19.7 in) or a tall base (B2) of approximately 800 mm (31.5 in). The base height sets the working height of the test space, so choose the option that suits your operators and your specimen loading.
Built to Last
- 10-year mechanical warranty: An industry-first 10-year warranty on the mechanical systems of every 6800 Series frame
- Load cells designed and built in-house: We are the only testing system manufacturer that designs and builds its own load cells
- Bluehill® Universal Software: Touch-operated software with pre-configured test methods for common ASTM and ISO standards
