What's Included in a Preventive Maintenance Visit

During your preventive maintenance visit, our Field Service Engineers follow a comprehensive checklist, completing a pre-defined set of maintenance activities designed to maximize your system's uptime and performance. Checklist details are tailored to your system type — for example, servohydraulic systems include hydraulic hose inspection and oil analysis, while ElectroPuls systems include actuator, power amplifier, and controller checks — but every visit covers the same core ground: system condition, configuration, correct operation, PC and software checks, and safety systems.

While on-site, your Instron® Field Service Engineer also has access to your system's calibration and service history, up-to-date preventive maintenance procedures, software updates, and factory-designed diagnostics.

For the full checklist specific to your system, see the literature resources below.

Covers initial inspection, system electronics, and hardware checks, including drive belt tension, lubrication, and filter maintenance.

Covers frame and power pack safety checks, hydraulic hose inspection, and laboratory oil analysis — including guidance on hydraulic hose replacement (recommended every 5 years) and hydraulic oil change intervals (up to 10,000 operating hours). Also covers available system refurbishment services.

Covers preliminary checks, actuator/linear motor inspection, power amplifier condition, and controller function, including crosshead interlock and emergency stop testing.
