Cold Bend Testing Fixture for Steel Reinforcement Bar

The W-6812 Cold Bend Testing Fixture is designed for nominal 90 and 180 degree cold bend testing of steel reinforcement bar (rebar) in general accordance with ASTM A615, A706, A966A, and BS 4449. The heavy-duty table-mounted base with infinitely adjustable support span accommodates rebar from #3 through #18 (M8 to M50) when used with the appropriate bending pins. A loading strut capable of accepting various diameter bending pins is provided and mounts to the adjustable crosshead of the testing machine.
The fixture is designed to bend steel into a U-shape with a finished bend angle of up to — but never exceeding — 180 degrees.
Principle of Operation
The loading strut is mounted in the compression space of the testing machine. The fixture base rests on the machine table and is aligned with the loading strut using a centering pin. The two supports are infinitely adjustable to any desired span using dual scales — both English and Metric — originating at the center of the base. Supports clamp to the base via T-slots and use threaded rods to resist deflection during loading.
The base is designed to be fully supported by the machine table. Full rated capacity of 200 kN is achieved when the overhang on each side does not exceed 64 mm (2.5 in). Where overhang exceeds 64 mm, rated capacity is reduced according to the formulas below.
