Electromechanical Frame Accessories
Make your universal testing system safer, more versatile, and easier to use with our electromechanical load frame accessories, attachments, and upgrades. These accessories are designed for Instron® 6800 and 3400 Series load frames, and many also fit select out-of-production models, including the 3300 and 5900 Series. Add the accessories your applications need as your testing grows.
Debris shields place a protective barrier between the test space and the operator. They may be needed for materials that fail suddenly or with high energy, such as composites, rebar, and cables. A shield contains fragments at the moment of failure, which protects operators and other people nearby and keeps fragments from damaging the lab around the frame. Shields are available for single-column, dual-column table model, and floor model frames.
Safety light curtains make operators safer by pausing crosshead movement the instant the hazard zone is crossed, guarding against pinch and crush hazards. Invisible infrared beams cover the area around the test space, so there is no physical barrier in the way. With no door to open or reset, operators move straight from one specimen to the next, and safety does not slow throughput. Light curtains integrate fully with 6800 Series systems and Bluehill® Universal software.

The heavy-duty support table provides a stable, level working surface for all Instron dual-column table model frames, including extra-height and extra-wide versions. It supports up to 680 kg (1,500 lb) of evenly distributed load on a 762 x 1,524 mm (30 x 60 in) tabletop. The height adjusts from 635 to 813 mm (25 to 32 in), and there is leg room for seated operation, so operators can work comfortably through long test runs.
Pneumatic air kits, footswitches, and distribution kits make grip closure easy and speed up specimen loading. They work with pneumatic grips, including pneumatic side-action tensile grips, pneumatic cord and yarn tensile grips, and pneumatic peel fixtures. A footswitch keeps the operator's hands free to align each specimen. On 3400 and 6800 Series systems, the Smart-Close Air Kit saves grip pressure in the test method, so every specimen is clamped at the same pressure.
Hydraulic grip pumps deliver precise, reliable clamping force for our hydraulic grips, with front-mounted analog gauges for easy monitoring. High, consistent clamping pressure helps keep high-strength specimens from slipping as load increases. Choose the compact 2718-700 pump, which sits on the tabletop, for wedge grip applications, or the floor-standing 2718-550 model, which works with both wedge and side-acting grips. The compact pump is also supported in the latest release of Bluehill Universal software.
Controller accessories connect your universal testing system to more measuring devices and external equipment. Sensor conditioning modules add channels for extensometers, LVDTs, and other transducers. The Expansion Channel Module adds up to eight channels of signal conditioning and control to 6800 and 5900 Series systems. Analog output and digital input/output boards send data to data loggers and other lab equipment, and can trigger events during a test.
