Instron's crash simulation sled systems are among the most proven platforms in the automotive passive safety industry — with more than 80 installations worldwide supporting the development, validation, and regulatory approval of vehicle safety technologies. Designed and built at Instron's center of excellence in Darmstadt, Germany, these systems accurately reproduce standardized and custom crash events — including frontal impacts with pitch simulation, side impacts, and pole impacts — to evaluate occupant protection systems, vehicle structures, and component behavior under real-world crash conditions.

With more than 50 years of applications experience in crash simulation and acceleration sled testing, Instron brings deep technical expertise to every installation. Our systems are designed for high-volume test programs, with solutions that maximize throughput, minimize changeover time, and enable offline pulse development — so physical sled time is spent testing, not setting up.

Crash Simulation Systems

The CSAadvanced is Instron's flagship crash simulation sled system — a modular, high-performance platform designed for high-volume testing programs and advanced applications including frontal crash with pitch simulation, side and pole impact simulation, and standardized crash pulse reproduction. With capacity for up to 2,000 test shots per year and the ability to generate and iterate pulses offline, the CSAadvanced is the system of choice for automotive manufacturers and tier-one suppliers running demanding development and validation programs.

The HyperG is an optimized crash simulation system designed for laboratories in the automotive and aerospace industries that require reliable, accurate crash pulse reproduction at a more accessible price point. Combining core CSA capability with a streamlined feature set, the HyperG is well suited to focused test programs where high-volume throughput and advanced multi-axis simulation are not primary requirements.
